A 7.6 earthquake hit western Indonesia on Wednesday, killing at least three and injuring more than 25.
The quake hit just under the island of Simeulue and damaged several buildings and homes while sending residents running into the streets and conjuring up memories of the catastrophic tsunami that followed a magnitude 9.0 quake in 2004.
Simeulue is located off the western coast of Sumatra and following the 2004 tsunami that killed more than 230,000 people the island was hit by an 8.7 quake that killed more than 1,000.
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center has monitored the sea but have not detected any large waves that would warrant a tsunami warning.
