Kirstie Alley Quits Jenny Craig, Starts Own Weight Loss Product

Kirstie Alley has announced that she will no longer be the spokesperson for Jenny Craig, but says she is creating her own weight loss program.

“After lengthy negotiations, regretfully the Jenny Craig Company and I did not come to an agreement to continue as their spokesperson,” Alley said in a statement.

Alley says she has plans to launch her own weight loss program in 2009. The 57-year-old said she wanted to “create something new that will help millions of people end the seemingly never ending fatty-roller coaster ride.”

The one-time “Fat Actress” star began as a spokeswoman for Jenny Craig in 2005. A year later she appeared on the Oprah Winfrey show after losing 75 pounds. Jenny Craig released a statement saying they were “sorry” to lose Alley as a spokesperson but said they “wish her all the best in her future endeavors.”

Alley is replaced by Valerie Bertinelli and Queen Latifah.
