St Peter’s College Re-Opened after Campus Declared Safe

St. Peter’s College, located in Jersey City, New Jersey, has been re-opened following a campus wide lockdown earlier this morning after a note was discovered that indicated there would be violence launched on the school.

Police responded to the threat by ordering the campus locked down while they searched the 3,000 student school, going from building to building and room to room looking for any sign that would indicate an impending attack.

The handwritten note was not specific and made no mention of guns or bombs yet authorities have taken the threat seriously in wake of the recent events at Northern Illinois University in which five students were killed by a lone gunman who then took his own life.

A brief message posted on the St. Peter’s College Web site noted “The Jersey City campus has been secured and re-opened.”
