2010 French Open Round 3 Results: Rafael Nadal Has Little Trouble with Lleyton Hewitt, Moves into Fourth Round

Rafael Nadal continues to show why he is the best player in the world on the clay court as the Spaniard took apart Australia’s Lleyton Hewitt in straight sets 6-3, 6-4, 6-3 on Saturday to advance to the fourth round of the French Open at Roland Garros.

Nadal once again relied on his ability to put his first serve in play and then attack as he placed 76 percent of his first offerings in play and then won points on 70 percent on those. For Hewitt, his demise was tied to his 37 unforced errors. He also presented Nadal with 16 break point opportunities, seven of those the Spaniard capitalized on.

Nadal is looking to bounce back from a disappointing 2009 French Open where he fell in the fourth round to Robin Söderling. Before that surprising loss Nadal had won the previous four French Open titles. He also has an Australian Open title under his belt as well as a Wimbledon championship, leaving only the U.S. Open as the only Grand Slam event the 23-year-old Spaniard hasn’t won.
