Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies searched for the reported gunman before determining that ROTC students were carrying the training weapons for a drill. The alarm lasted for nearly 45 minutes and ended a little after 9 a.m.
Sheriff’s officials said Reserve Officer Training Corps students were carrying the rifles for a drill and they posed no threat. The ROTC failed to notify campus police, according to Sgt. Larry Thompson.
Thompson said that the scare “was good training for us” and added that a student was detained for questioning but not arrests were made.
