The book is about Insights into Thorny Relationships. These relationships are both male and female in gender. The term “prick” is a metaphor for a rose thorn. The book has a new method of quantifying the level of pricking in a light, playful tone while capturing the seriousness of the subject.

The authors were college roommates 25 years ago and reconnected one day when they were talking on the phone. They realized they were, much like everyone else, pursuing the “American Dream” until one day their worlds shattered. They then realized that the “this is not my life” syndrome was common, but nobody talked about it in the open.
