Plane Crash in Venezuela Kills 46

A Venezuelan airliner crashed into the Andes Mountains Thursday night killing all 46 people on board.

 

The plane went missing about 30 minutes after taking off from the city of Merida and residents began reporting a massive crash in the mountains. The flight was en route to Simon Bolivar International Airport near Caracas but failed to make contact with control towers after departing.

 

The ATR 42-300 commercial airline owned by the Venezuelan airline Santa Barbara was carrying 43 passengers and three crew members.
