Representative Rick Renzi has been indicted on 35 counts including federal charges of conspiracy, wire fraud, money laundering, extortion and insurance fraud. The FBI is investigating whether the Arizona congressman has used his office for personal gain. Renzi’s relationship with his former business partner was also under investigation over land deals.
Renzi’s family business was raided by the FBI last year. After the raid he stepped down from the House Intelligence Committee.
He has denied any wrong doing. Renzi says he will not seek re-election.
