Hewlett-Packard Announces Job Cut Plan, to Eliminate 9,000 Positions Over Three Years

Hewlett-Packard has announced plans to cut 9,000 jobs over a three year period as it moves toward developing fully-automated commercial data centers.

HP has said the move toward automated centers would benefit clients and could save the technology company between $500 million and $700 million after reinvestment.

HP made the announcement saying “As a result of productivity gains and automation, HP expects to eliminate roughly 9,000 positions over a multi-year period to reinvest for further growth and to increase shareholder value.”

While the plan includes slashing 9,000 jobs the company did say about 6,000 of those jobs would be replaced.
