Former Vice President Al Gore and his wife Tipper have revealed that they are separating after 40 years of marriage.
Other than telling friends the separation was “a mutual and mutually supportive decision,” the couple did not go into why the decision was made.
Gore served as VP under President Bill Clinton and then launched his own presidential campaign in 2000 but lost to George W. Bush. His work in the area of climate change brought him the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007.
Al and Tipper were married in 1970 and have four children together.
