Five people involved in a car accident on Monday, May 31 were rushed to the hospital after sustaining multiple wounds.
This past Memorial Day, Jordan Willette, 20, was reported to have fallen asleep at the wheel while driving eastbound from Canton, New York. Willette’s Jeep Cherokee began to swerve and crossed over to the westbound side of the road.
The Jeep crashed into the side of driver Heather Peers’ Pontiac between Baggs Comers and Jericho Road. The Jeep rolled onto the shoulder of the road before coming to a complete stop.
All five accident victims were taken to nearby Samaritan hospital where they were examined for further injuries.
Peers, 16, sustained minor wounds and cuts while passenger Tina Peers, 43, was noted to have expressed feelings of back pain. A third passenger, Ryan Peers, 18, did not appear to have been harmed but was examined by paramedics to insure that no internal injuries were sustained.
Willette incurred greater wounds and was hospitalized with a fractured leg. He is currently reported to be in stable condition. His passenger, Kyle Hawley, 20, appeared unharmed but was examined for injuries by paramedics.
Willette was charged with both failing to keep right and failure to wear a seatbelt. Hawley was also charged with failure to wear a seat belt.
There have been no reports as of yet regarding whether or not the Peers will file further charges. It is unknown as to whether either party has solicited the help of an accident attorney for the car crash.
