Sotheby’s Property near Yosemite Uses Narrative Cinema

Time-lapse Photography and “Living Images” for Marketing Sizzle

Selling high-end properties in the current real estate climate is no easy feat, so East Bay Sotheby’s decided to embrace new technologies and tools when they placed a Central Valley luxury residential property on the market.

To showcase the extraordinary beauty of CASA ESTRELLA – from its custom-built Southwestern-style craftsmanship to the stunning 22-acre location atop a high ridge in the foothills near the Sierras and Yosemite – they worked with a multi-media firm to create narrative style video and VR photography in addition to traditional architectural photography. There’s a time-lapse sequence of the changing skies, as well as a micro blog establishing a virtual “open house” available 24/7 to pose and answer questions and get the buzz going.

The shift away from “selling” to “showing,” letting the buyer look, ask questions and become a part of a larger conversation, creates a refreshing new transparency and credibility that benefits both to the individual property sale and the real estate industry at large.

“Technology is changing everything in our lives, and in this case it gives realtors an opportunity to bring the property to a buyer – virtually – in a way that communicates the lifestyle as well as the physical property,” said Michael Thompson of East Bay Sotheby’s. “That’s ultimately what a luxury house is about.”
