Dick Fletcher, a legendary meterologist in Tampa Bay, FL, died Tuesday, eight days after suffering a massive stroke. He was 65 years old.
Fletcher held the American Meteorological Society Seal of Approval and had been a Tampa Bay area broadcaster for WTSP channel 10 for 28 years (1980–2008).
Dick suffered his first stroke in 2003, but made a quick recovery and was back on the air just a few weeks later.
Fletcher frequently served on national weather panels and mentored younger meteorologists. Dick pioneered the use of graphics in weather presentations in the 80’s and was a computer master all of his professional life.
