Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers to Perform at the Blossom Music Center June 22

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers will be performing live at the Blossom Music Center in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio on June 22 at 7:00 pm.

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers released their first album in 1976 but did not gain recognition until 1977 after the re-release of the single “Breakdown,” which peaked at #40 on the charts in 78.  The band followed the album with Your Gonna Get It!, featuring “I Need to Know” and “Listen to Her Heart” which later became the band’s first gold album.   The band’s third album, Damn the Torpedoes quickly went platinum and featured the band’s breakthrough singes, “Don’t Do Me Like That” and “Refugee.”

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers are spending 2008 on their North American Tour performing at venues across the United States and Canada.  Steve Windwood will open for every show.

The summer home of the Cleveland Orchestra, the Blossom Music Center in Cuyahoga Falls hosts popular musical artists and symphonic performances each summer.  The amphitheater is named after Dudley S. Blossom, the Cleveland Orchestra’s president from 1936 to 1938.

Set in the woods of Cuyahoga Valley National Park, the venue can seat 6,051 and accommodate 17,000 on the lawn.

Previous guests include Jimmy Buffett, the Kinks, Dave Matthews Band, Journey, Def Leppard, Aerosmith, Green Day, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Pearl Jam.

The facility is operated by Live Nation and holds the annual Carnival of Horrors each October.
