Man to return to jail after repeated DUI offenses

DUI's are not fun

VERMONT - Douglas Gardner, 54, was stopped by police after driving a stolen car while intoxicated. This is Gardner’s eighth DUI arrest.

Police explain that Gardner was only a few days from being removed from a 20-year prison sentence but after this new arrest, he faces even greater charges.

The last time he was arrested was due to him driving while intoxicated and killing 20-year-old Billy LaBier.  This time around, Gardner is being charged with DUI, grand theft auto and driving with a suspended license and faces life in prison. He pleaded not guilty to all the charges.

According to police, a Pontiac Aztec was found off the road with Gardner still at the wheel. He admitted to having consumed two beers and vodka. After given a blood alcohol content test, it was found that he was double the legal limit.

Gardner is no stranger to the court system. He has been arrested numerous times since 1976.   No word from his DUI lawyer on the current offenses.
