Major Drilling Group Intl Inc (MDI) to Release Q3 2008 Earnings March 4

Major Drilling Group Intl Inc (TSE:MDI) will release the third quarter earnings for 2008 on March 4.

A contract drilling company, Major Drilling Group operates 32 fields and offices in 20 countries primarily within the mining sector.  In addition, the company has initiated drilling services within the coal-bed methane and shallow gas segments of the energy sector.

The company has operations in three geographic areas, Canada and the United States, South and Central America and Australasia and Africa.  Operations in the South and Central American area include Mexico, Chile, Argentina, Venezuela, Guyana Shield and Ecuador.  Australasian and African operations are active within Australia, Indonesia, Mongolia and southern Africa.

As of December 1, 2006, the company acquired 55 conventional drill rigs as well as related support equipment, inventory and contracts which were previously owned by the Longstaff Group in southern Africa.

The company purchased Harris y Cia Ltd through Major Drilling’s wholly owned subsidiary in Chile.
