Dannielynn Hope Marshall Birkhead, daughter of the late Anna Nicole Smith and Larry Birkhead, is recovering from strabismus eye surgery.
She is resting comfortably after undergoing corrective surgery for the condition, according to her father in an Entertainment Tonight interview.
17-month old Dannielynn had been diagnosed with strabismus, which is more commonly referred to as "lazy eye" or "being cross-eyed".
Anna Nicole's half-sister, Donna Hogan said in January that the condition is hereditary on Anna Nicole's side of the family. “I can confirm that it is hereditary on our father's side of the family,” she said. Hogan's own 14-year old daughter suffers from the same condition and is awaiting strabismus surgery.
Birkhead, 34, who has been raising the toddler since Anna Nicole's sudden death, said he was nervous about the operation but he had talked to a lot of other parents who all gave him support and encouraged him.
