Giada De Laurentiis, the Italian celebrity chef, said that she and husband Todd Thompson have agreed on the name Jade for her unborn daughter. De Laurentiis is pregnant and is due in April with the couple's first child.
The Food Network chef said that the name Jade works well, but they want to see the baby first before they make the final decision.
"I don’t want to give her an all-American name, but a combination like ‘Valentina Thompson’ would be strange," said De Laurentiis, 37. "We've tentatively agreed on 'Jade,' which is the English translation of 'Giada.' But we're waiting until we meet her. My parents named me ‘Giada’ only after they saw my [green] eyes.
De Laurentiis told People Magazine that she has cravings for steak now during her pregnancy.
"I always want steak - lots of steak," says De Laurentiis. "I used to crave sweets before I got pregnant. You know, chocolate, cookies, cake. I've normally got a really big sweet tooth, but not now this baby just wants meat."
De Laurentiis is also the host of the Food Network programs Everyday Italian, Behind the Bash, Giada's Weekend Getaways, and Giada in Paradise. Her husband Todd is a fashion designer for Anthropologie.
