The Dave Clark Five Lead Singer Mike Smith Dies at 64

The lead singer of The Dave Clarke Five, Mike Smith, died Thursday at the age of 64. He died of pneumonia and complications of a spinal cord injury he sustained in 2003. The injury left him paralyzed from his ribs down.

Some of the band’s hits were ‘Glad All Over,’ ‘Catch Us If You Can,’ and ‘Over and Over.’ Smith helped right many of the songs for the band which disbanded in 1970.

 

He died two weeks before the band was to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He is survived by his wife Arlene.
