Woman Sentenced to Four Years after Killing Bicyclist While Driving and Texting

A 25-year-old British woman has been sentenced to four years in prison following a Feb. 7, 2007 accident in which she struck a bicyclist with her car while she was text messaging her estranged husband.

The woman, identified as Kiera Coultas, had been speeding in her BMW and tried to reply to a message sent by her husband when she failed to notice 19-year-old Jordan Wickington who had stopped at a traffic light in Southampton, England.

Wickington was admitted to a nearby hospital but he died later that day.
