Sheryl Sandberg To Become Facebook Chief Operating Officer

Sheryl Sandberg will become the new Chief Operating Officer for Facebook, according to an announcement Tuesday. Sandberg was the Vice President for Global Online Sales and Operations for Google.

Sandberg was also the chief of staff at the Treasury Department in the Clinton administration.

“She has just about the most relevant industry experience for Facebook, especially since we need to scale our operations and scale them globally,” said Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg. “And we also share the same values.”

Sandberg, who will become Facebook's first women executive, ran Google's AdWords, the mostly automated online-sales and advertising operation which provides most of Google's revenue.
