Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers will be performing live at the Riverbend Music Center on Tuesday, July 8 at 7:30 pm.

Following the re-release of their single, “Breakdown,” Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers finally gained recognition as a band in 1977.  “Breakdown” peaked at #40 on the charts in 1978.  Afterwards the band released Your Gonna Get It! which included “I Need to Know” and “Listen to Her Heart.”  Your Gonna Get it became the band’s first gold album.  Their third album, Damn the Torpedoes became platinum from songs such as “Don’t Do me Like that” and Refugee.”

The band will be spending 2008 touring through the United States and Canada on their North American Tour.  Accompanying them will be Steve Windwood, who will be opening for the band at every show.

With a capacity of 20,500, the Riverbend Music Center stands next to the Ohio River in Cincinnati, Ohio.  The venue was designed by Michael Graves and built for the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, providing the orchestra with an outdoor venue during the summer.

The Symphony subsidiary of Music and Event Management Incorporated operates the center with Live Nation.
