Israeli Navy Kills Four Palestinians Off Gaza Coast

The Israeli navy has shot and killed four Palestinians off the Gaza coast, claiming the men had been a part of a group planning a terrorist attack.

According to Israeli military the men had been aboard a boat carrying “a squad of terrorists wearing diving suits on their way to execute a terror attack.” While the Israeli navy confirmed that it had hit its target they did not provide any further details.

It was a militant group linked to Fatah that confirmed the four deaths and claimed a fifth remained missing. That group, al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades, said the men were taking part in training operations when the strike occurred.

That strike occurred as the boat was heading toward Israel from waters off a refugee camp in central Gaza.

Shortly after the incident Israeli Foreign Ministry official Yigal Palmour told Reuters TV “"This is the explanation why the border, both land and sea border with Gaza need to be strictly and tightly controlled. We can't allow Hamas to carry out attacks at will on Israelis, on Israeli territory.”
