Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers to Perform at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Charlotte July 11

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers will be performing live at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Charlotte North Carolina on July 11 at 7:30 pm.

A singer, songwriter and guitarist, Thomas Earl Petty was born on October 20, 1950 and is known for his hit songs “Don’t Do Me Like That”, “Refugee”, “Runnin Down a Dream”, “The Waiting”, “Don’t Come Around Here No More”, “I Wont Back Down”, “Free Fallin”, “Mary Janes Last Dance”, “American Girl” and “You Don’t Know How It Feels.”  Tom Petty has been supported by The Heartbreakers for the majority of his career, although he did release solo work on occasion.  His most recent solo release was Highway Companion in 2006.  In it, Petty performed the majority of the backing instrumentation by himself.

Tom petty and the Heartbreakers will be touring throughout the United States and Canada in 2008 on their North American Tour.  Steve Windwood will be joining them to open for every show.
