Arizona Teen Murders Father after MySpace Restriction

A 15-year-old Mesa, Arizona boy is facing first-degree murder charges after he shot and killed his father because his Internet access to the social networking site MySpace had been restricted.

Hughstan Schlicker told detectives that he found a 12-gauge shotgun in the garage at his house and was contemplating committing suicide in front of his father. Instead the teen took aim at his father and pulled the trigger, killing 49-year-old Ted Schlicker.

Immediately following the shooting the teen called a friend and told her that he planned to kill himself but she talked him into calling the police.

Schlicker then told the investigators that he killed his father because he was depressed that he was no longer able to access his friends through the Web site MySpace.
