Jay-Z and Mary J Blige to Perform Live at the Verizon Center April 6

Jay-Z and Mary J. Blige will be performing live at the Verizon Center in Washington, DC on April 6 at 7:30 pm.

One of the most financially successful performance artists and entrepreneurs in the United States, Shawn Corey Carter, better known as Jay-Z, has a net worth of $600 million.  Starting as a hip hop performance artist, Jay Z quickly gained popularity for his mixed street and popular style music with improved lyrics.

The Blueprint, released in 2001, was critically acclaimed after he allegedly wrote the album in less than two days.  Despite its unfortunate release on 9/11, the album sold over 426,000 copies during its opening week and went on to become platinum with over 2.3 million copies sold in the US.

Mary Jane Blige has bee compared to Patti LaBelle and Aretha Franklin and is known for her “gritty voice.  Often referred to as the “Queen of Hip Hop Soul” Blige is an American R&B, soul, and hip hop singer and songwriter.  The hip hop icon has also been involved in rap, record production and acting.

Blige has sold more than 40 million albums and over 10 million singles all around the world.
