I had no choice. There was not even one man I could study with. So I became what you call a self-taught artist.

"Now, I will begin at the beginning and take you up to the present. I will tell you the best way I can - by giving a starring role to the women who have been so nice and smart that they wanted to make love with me. I can't cover all of them. Then this book would be way too long. I want to tell my story, but I want to make it as short as I can, while I do the subject justice. I have too many other things to do, if you get my meaning. As he experiences the delights and disappointments of a life devoted to romance, his generally sunny outlook also allows him to offer a world view about the beauty and value of life.
