Isaac Bruce to Retire as a Ram

Legendary Wide Receiver to Retire

On Monday, legendary wide receiver Isaac Bruce was traded from the San Francisco 49ers to the St. Louis Rams so that he could retire as a member of the team with which he made his NFL debut back in 1994. Now at the end of an amazing 16-year NFL career, Bruce is widely regarded as one of the best wide receivers of all time. He ranks second all-time for most receiving yards with 15, 208. He also holds a number of Rams franchise records, including most  receiving touchdowns with 84, most career receptions with 942, and most career receiving yards with 14,109. Bruce spent 14 years with the Rams before he joined the 49ers in 2008. San Francisco coach Mike Singletary told the San Jose Mercury News, "Everything that he did while he was here, the professionalism, the work ethic, the candor, everything about him ... it drew all of our receivers to him... I'm excited about the whole transaction that's taking place. He's going to retire a Ram and that's what he deserves." Bruce and the Rams are expected to hold a news conference on Wednesday in order to officially announce his retirement. (Sources: ESPN.com)
