University of California, Davis Student Arrested after Pipe Bombs Discovered

A University of California, Davis student was arrested on Thursday after authorities found two partially assembled pipe bombs in his dorm room.

The 18-year-old student was identified as Mark Woods, a freshman economics major at UC Davis.

Police received a report Wednesday evening from a woman who indicated that there were students on campus who had explosive devices. A dorm was evacuated and authorities searched the building and discovered the two partially made pipe bombs in Woods’ room.

Investigators did not believe Woods was planning an attack or had any thought of detonating the explosives on the school’s campus.
