Samantha Power, a senior advisor to Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL), apologized Friday for her staunch comments about Obama's competitor, Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-NY).
Power, a Pulitzer Prize-winning author, called Clinton a "monster" Thursday.
“It is wrong for anyone to pursue this campaign in such negative and personal terms,” she said in the statement. “I apologize to Senator Clinton and to Senator Obama, who has made very clear that these kinds of expressions should have no place in American politics.”
The same day, Clinton spokeman Howard Wolfson referred to Obama as Ken Starr, the Clinton's nemesis during the 1990s. "I for one do not believe that imitating Ken Starr is the way to win a Democratic primary election for president," said Wolfson, referring to Obama's criticism of Clinton's record.
