Samantha Power resigned Friday as senior foreign policy advisor for Sen. Barack Obama's presidential campaign after calling Sen. Hillary Clinton a "monster".
Earlier Friday morning, Power apologized for her comment, which was said during an interview with The Scotsman on Thursday.
“It is wrong for anyone to pursue this campaign in such negative and personal terms,” she said in the statement. “I apologize to Senator Clinton and to Senator Obama, who has made very clear that these kinds of expressions should have no place in American politics.”
Hours later, Power, a Pulitzer Prize-winning author, resigned from the position in its entirety.
