NBA Finals: Lakers Take 2-1 Lead

Boston Loses Their First Game at Home

On Tuesday night, the Los Angeles Lakers beat the Boston Celtics 91-84 in a game that was full of some great action and a few surprises. Perhaps most surprisingly, Ray Allen went 0-13 from the field, including 0-8 in three point shots. This was just one game after Allen set the all-time NBA Finals record for most three-pointers made in a single game with 8. But, as Lakers guard Derek Fisher puts it, "it's a tough gig for [Allen] to run around offensively the way he has to and then have to guard Kobe on the other end... but we won't see 0 for 13 on Thursday night, that's for sure." Another surprise on the Boston side of things was Kevin Garnett's great performance, which included 25 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists. Of course it is not surprising to see Garnett do well, but after his relative absence in the first two games of the series, it was almost starting to look like he wouldn't be a big factor during the Finals. Kobe Bryant led the Lakers with 29 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 blocks. Derek Fisher (who, like Bryant, has 4 NBA Finals rings) did not lead the Lakers in any major statistical category, but he definitely proved to be the vital force that the Lakers needed in order to secure their victory during the fourth quarter. Boston coach Doc Rivers said, "Derek Fisher was the difference in the game. He's just a gutty, gritty player and he gutted the game out for them... he basically took the game over." Game 3 of the 2010 NBA Finals can be seen on ABC Thursday at 9:00 PM ET. (Sources: ESPN.com)
