Whoopi Goldberg Credits Patrick Swayze with Aiding in her Oscar Win

Whoopi Goldberg recently revealed that her Academy Award win for her role as Oda Mae Brown in the 1990 film “Ghost” almost never happened.

On Friday’s episode of “The View” Goldberg credited Patrick Swayze for actually getting her the part in the movie. According to Goldberg her casting came after Swayze told director Jerry Zucker “I'm not making this movie unless you put Whoopi in there.”

Swayze has been at the center of the media world after it was recently revealed the “Dirty Dancing” star had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. While there have been several rumors circulating that Swayze has a limited amount of time left his doctor has dismissed any speculation in that area saying, “All of the reports stating the timeframe of his prognosis and his physical side effects are absolutely untrue.”
