AT&T has said they have corrected the problem that compromised the personal information of more than 100,000 Apple iPad users.
According to AT&T the company has blocked access to a website feature that had allowed hackers to retrieve contact details for some of the most influential names in the United States, including White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel and New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
News of the hacking was revealed by Gawker Media after a group calling itself Goatse Security claimed responsibility and offered proof.
The information breach only involved those iPad users who had signed up for AT&T’s 3G wireless service and while the company admitted the flaw they also said there had been minimal information that was accessible to the hackers.
