Rush will be performing live at the Gorge Campground in George, Washington on Friday, March 31 at 8:00 pm.
Toronto born, Rush was created in 1968 by Geddy Lee (bass, keyboard, lead vocals), Alex Lifeson (guitar) and Neil Peart (lyrics, drummer). Performing complex compositions and eclectic lyrical motifs, the band quickly gained popularity for their instrumental virtuosity since the release of their first self titled album. Their music is often about science fiction, fantasy, libertarian philosophy and addressed humanitarian, social, emotional and environmental concerns.
Metallica, the Smashing Pumpkins, Primus, Dream Theater and Symphony X have all been inspired by Rush’s music.
Inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 1994, the band has 24 gold records and 14 platinum records, setting it in fifth place for the most consecutive gold and platinum albums, according to the RIAA. The organizations also notes that Rush is 78th in place, tied with Nirvana, ZZ Top, Selena, Jay-Z and Faith Hill, for the most albums sold in the United States.
