MSNBC cancelled Tucker, the show hosted by Tucker Carlson, on Monday. The time slot will be replaced by a show starring NBC chief White House correspondent David Gregory.
Gregory's show will be a fresher politically-oriented show. Gregory is a back-up for Matt Lauer on NBC's Today Show.
Carlson will remain with MSNBC as a campaign correspondent, covering the presidential race from Washington and the road.
Gregory, whose program will be shown weeknights beginning at 6 pm, will continue be the chief White House correspondent for NBC News, the parent company of MSNBC.
MSNBC also announced that Andrea Mitchell, a veteran political correspondent for both MSNBC and NBC News, will lead another new campaign-oriented program. Mitchell's show will air beginning at 1 p.m. on weekdays.
