Geraldine Ferraro, a Democrat and former member of the House of Representatives, is in under scrutiny about some controversial comments made about Sen. Barack Obama.
"If Obama was a white man, he would not be in this position," said Ferraro in an interview with the Daily Breeze in Torrance, CA. "And if he was a woman (of any color) he would not be in this position. He happens to be very lucky to be who he is. And the country is caught up in the concept."
Of Clinton, Ferraro said that the press "has been uniquely hard on her. It's been a very sexist media. Some just don't like her. The others have gotten caught up in the Obama campaign."
Ferraro was the first and only woman to date to represent a major U.S. political party as a candidate for Vice President. She was Walter Mondale's vice presidential candidate in the 1984 presidential election, whom they lost to Ronald Reagan.
