The talks have been initiated to resolve allegations relating to the company’s disclosures and alleged omissions before fiscal year 2008 relating to some aspects of the company’s commercial relationship with Intel Corporation (NASDAQ: INTC).

As a result of these discussions Dell Inc. has recorded a $100 million liability in its first quarter of fiscal year 2011 in order to establish a reserve for the potential settlement by the company. Due to the liability recorded, the company’s net income on GAAP basis has been reduced by $100 million, or $0.05 per share.
