First 2010 World Cup Game Ends in Draw
To the delight of soccer fans all across South Africa, Siphiwe Tshabalala scored the first goal of the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Tshabalala's amazing shot came in the second half of the game after a comparatively slow first half left Mexico and South Africa tied 0-0 at half time. There were some impressive shots and saves in the first half of the game, but there were also a lot of missed opportunities on both sides. There was also a somewhat controversial offside call on what appeared to be a legitimate Mexican goal. But Rafael Marquez of Mexico managed to tie the game in the 79th minute of the game after intercepting a great center pass. While it ended in draw, the first game of the 2010 World Cup was definitely a great way to start this exciting tournament. Game 2 of the tournament pits France against Uruguay and can be seen on ESPN at 2:30 PM ET.
