At least 12 people in Arkansas have died and an unknown number remain missing after two campgrounds were hit by flash floods overnight.
Almost eight inches of rain pounded the state late Thursday night and into early Friday, causing rivers to swell and spill over. The Caddo and Little Missouri rivers were among those rivers and for campers staying in the Ouachita Mountains in the western part of the state the flooding simply swept them away.
Rescuers are continuing to search for missing campers and residents in the area while helicopters are circling above the area in hopes of spotting people trapped.
