NBA Finals: Celtics Tie Series 2-2

Boston Delivers Amazing Performances

After losing their first home game of the series on Tuesday, the Boston Celtics tied the 2010 NBA Finals series at 2-2 by defeating the Los Angeles Lakers 96-89 in Game 4. And perhaps to the surprise of many, it was the Boston bench that really proved to be the crucial factor in the game. Led by the admirably intense Glen "Big Baby" Davis, the Celtics bench outscored the Lakers bench 36-18. During one amazing fourth-quarter stretch, the only Boston starter on the court was Ray Allen, with Rajon Rondo, Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, and Kendrick Perkins all providing a great amount of sideline support for their explosive bench players, including Davis, Rasheed Wallace, Nate Robinson, and Tony Allen. Celtics coach Doc Rivers said, "Rondo and the rest of them, they were begging me to keep guys in. 'Don't take them out! Don't take them out!' It was great. That's the loudest I've seen our bench, and it was the starters cheering from the bench." Kobe Bryant, as usual, had an amazing game, with 33 points, including 9 from three consecutive three-pointers late in the third quarter to give LA a 62-58 lead. Pau Gasol also had a solid game, with 21 points and 2 blocks. But it was simply not enough. As Bryant put it, "They [i.e., the Celtics] got all the energy points, the hustle points, second chance points, points in the paint, beat us to the loose balls... I mean, that's how the game turned around." The last game that will be played in Boston, Game 5 can be seen Sunday at 8:00 PM ET. (Sources: Associate Press, ESPN.com)
