Joran van der Sloot Charged with Murder of Stephany Flores

Joran van der Sloot was officially charged with murder Friday. Earlier this week Van der Sloot confessed to fatally beating 21-year-old Stephany Flores, who was found dead June 2 in a Lima, Peru hotel room registered to the Dutchman.

Authorities say Van der Sloot beat and strangled Flores, and broke her neck. Van der Sloot is also charged with robbery as he emptied Flores’ wallet after killing her. The 22-year-old faces up to 30 years in prison.
