Eliot Spitzer to Make Announcement Later Today

New York Governor Eliot Spitzer is expected make an announcement at 11:30 a.m. today with many speculating that the disgraced public official will resign from his post following the revelation that he had been involved in a prostitution ring.

Spitzer will be speaking from his office and while he hasn’t indicated to the media he would resign the belief is that he has been holding off until he could work out a deal to avoid charges related to his indiscretions.

Earlier this week news broke that the 48-year-old Democratic governor had been involved with several high-class call girls over a period of years. The married father of three has apologized but has fallen short of admission to guilt in the accusations.

Reports from FOX News have indicated that Spitzer would resign effective March 17.

If Spitzer is to resign then David Paterson, currently the Lieutenant General of New York would step in as governor.
