Southwest Airlines grounded 41 planes and cancelled a number of flights following a recent admission that they had failed to adhere to inspection requirements for the aircrafts.
Several of the grounded planes were said to have structural cracks, one of a series of safety violations that led to a $10.2 million civil penalty imposed by the Federal Aviation Administration.
The penalty represents the largest fine ever imposed by the FAA on a carrier.
