Police Charge Demario James Atwater with First-Degree Murder in Eve Carson Slaying

Chapel Hill Police have filed first-degree murder charges against 21-year-old Demario James Atwater in connection to the slaying of University of North Carolina student Eve Carson.

Atwater was apprehended late last night by Durham police and was transported to the Chapel Hill Police where he was questioned. Demario Atwater made his first court appearance on Wednesday afternoon, he was joined in the courtroom by Chapel Hill District Attorney Jim Woodall and several members of the Chapel Hill police department.

Eve Carson was found shot to death on March 5. The 22-year-old was discovered about a mile from her school’s campus.
