Chapel Hill Police Searching for Lawrence Alvin Lovett Jr., Second Suspect in Eve Carson Murder

Following the arrest of Demario James Atwater on Tuesday night and subsequent first-degree murder charges filed against him on Wednesday related to the slaying of University of North Carolina student Eve Carson, police are now hunting for Lawrence Alvin Lovett Jr. who they believe may have been involved in the brutal murder.

Lawrence Lovett Jr., 17, is believed to be the individual in the ATM photo and is considered armed and dangerous. He is now facing first-degree murder charges as well.

Atwater was apprehended late last night by Durham police and was transported to the Chapel Hill Police where he was questioned. Demario Atwater made his first court appearance on Wednesday afternoon, he was joined in the courtroom by Chapel Hill District Attorney Jim Woodall and several members of the Chapel Hill police department.

Eve Carson was found shot to death on March 5. The 22-year-old was discovered about a mile from her school’s campus.
