Khandi Busby Throws Herself, Two Child Over Dallas Overpass

A woman threw her two young children off of an overpass in Dallas, Texas this morning around 6:30 during rush hour traffic before jumping off herself. Police say Khandi Busby, 27, and her 8 and 6 year old sons survived the 22 foot fall. They are all in stable condition at a nearby hospital.

“It was really miraculous that we didn’t have some fatalities with this incident. At this particular time, there is very heavy traffic and it is fast-moving,” said Sgt. Gil Cerda. He adds that Busby could face to charges of attempted capital murder for throwing her sons off the bridge.

All three were able to speak to investigators after the fall. It is unclear what prompted Busby to throw herself and her sons off the overpass. All three landed in the left lane of traffic but only Busby and the 8-year-old were hit by cars.

Busby, who has been investigated by Child Protective Services twice for “minor” incidents, was with her father at the time of the attempted murder-suicide. They had stopped at a gas station for gas, and while her father was inside paying, Busby took her children to the overpass. Her father followed her in the car, but didn’t arrive in enough time to stop her.
