Woman Stuck on Toilet for 2 Years

A 35-year-old Kansas woman has been hospitalized because she has been stuck on a toilet for 2 years. Pam Babcock refused to leave the bathroom, according to her boyfriend Kory McFarren.

McFarren said Babcock had a phobia about leaving the bathroom. “It just kind of happened one day, she went in and had been in there a little while, the next time it was a little longer. Then she got it in her head she was going to stay – like it was a safe place for her,” said McFarren.

The 36-year-old said he couldn’t say exactly how long his girlfriend has been in the bathroom because “time just went by so quick I cant pinpoint how long.” Babcock moved around in the bathroom. She bathed and changed clothes. McFarren brought her food and water so she could eat in the bathroom.

McFarren finally called authorities on February 27 after Babcock appeared groggy and confused. Ness County Sheriff Bryan Whipple responded to the call. He said that Babcock’s skin had grown around the toilet seat. “We pried the toilet seat off with a pry bar and the seat went with her to the hospital. The hospital removed it,” said Whipple.

“She was not glued. She was not tied. She was just physically stuck by her body. It is hard to imagine…I still have a hard time imagining it myself,” he added.

Babcock initially refused to leave the bathroom and go to the hospital. McFarren helped convince her that she needed medical attention. She has infection in her legs and some nerve damage.

It is being determined whether charges should be filed against McFarren, who says he attempted to coax his girlfriend out of the bathroom everyday. “She is an adult; she made her own decision. I should have gotten help for her sooner, I admit that. But after a while, you kind of get used to it,” McFarren added.
