Ashley Dupre, Spitzer Call-Girl, Hits Nearly a Million Downloads on iTunes

Ashley Dupre, the 22-year-old woman at the center of Eliot Spitzer’s fall from grace, is seeing her music career take off as her single “What We Want” has already sold nearly one million downloads on the popular music site iTunes.

Dupre, known simply as “Kristen” in the prostitution scandal, left her New Jersey home when she was 17-years-old to pursue a career as a singer/songwriter. Reports have indicated that she worked in clubs throughout New York but eventually found herself in the high-price call girl industry.

Despite her chosen career path she continued to play music and posted it for sale. According to one music site that allows artists to upload music for sale, her single ‘What We Want” carried a nine-cent price tag but by the time her name broke in the Spitzer case it jumped to 98-cents per download, the same price many larger bands command for a single.

Now according to iTunes Ashley Dupre was closing in on a million downloads, placing her in the company of major artists for downloads.
