Attack on Iraqi Central Bank in Baghdad Leaves at least 15 Dead, Scores Injured

An attack on Iraq’s central bank in Baghdad has left at least 15 people dead and more than 50 injured.

According to reports the attackers detonated an explosive at the bank and then engaged in a gun battle with police as they tried to storm the building. Many of those killed in the attack were said to be bank employees but police have also said that five of the attackers blew themselves up.

Officials have said the attack was likely launched by an insurgent group attempting to raise money for their operations. Those groups have been targeting jewelry stores and banks over the past several months.
